Biscuit

My brother and his family had a fourteen-years-old Maltipoo named Biscuit. He was an important part of our lives. When my nieces were little, they pulled together their Christmas money we had given them, and purchased Bisci. He was just a baby. At the pharmacy, the pharmacist would say, Biscuit Pourasgari, your medicine is ready. So you see, he wasn't just a dog. He was a person, no different than a human family member.

Lately in the mornings, my sister-in-law would put him in the yard for ten minutes so that he could roam around freely. The yard is gated, and even though he could run away by squeezing himself from under the gate, he wouldn't do it because he was old, and liked to stay close to the house.

About ten days ago, my-sister-in-law put him outside, and within minutes, she heard a cry. When she went out, he was gone. My family checked all their neighbors' homes, went to all the nearby shelters, put signs on trees, and asked social media, and Nextdoor for help even though they knew that there was a 99.9% chance that nothing would come out of it. Because more than likely, a cayote or an eagle had grabbed him. It was such a horrible death.

We never imagined him to go this way, and we're all heartbroken. So, if you have a small pet, always put them on a leash. Never let him roam freely outside unless you're right there with him. And if you're thinking, well that's being too protective, it will never happen to me, think again. Cayotes, and eagles are much quicker than you could ever respond. It is painful when your pet dies from an old age, but it is much much worse, when they are eaten by another animal.
